Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood – A Toolbox for Life Skills

The Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood is a free, self-paced online resource created by autistic adults, for autistic adults. It offers ten engaging modules covering topics such as employment, communication, friendships, independent living, mental and physical health, self-advocacy, education, relationships, and leisure.

These modules are designed to be flexible and empowering—like a toolbox. You can choose which tools and strategies work best for you, explore only the parts that interest you, and return to them whenever needed.

Language and Respect

Language is personal. Within the Guide, you’ll find both identity-first language (“autistic person”) and person-first language (“person on the autism spectrum”), reflecting the diverse preferences of contributors. What matters most is respect for each person’s choice.

Important to Know – Our Disclaimer

The Guide provides general information and advice from autistic adults, not personalised or clinical recommendations. What works for one person may not work for another—and that’s okay.

  • Think of the content as shared experiences and suggestions that others in the autistic community have found useful.
  • You may use the information or not—it’s completely your choice.
  • You can complete a whole module, part of it, or none at all, depending on what feels right for you.
  • Information about government programs, institutions, or research may change over time. While we aim to keep modules updated, always check current details before making decisions.
  • Most importantly, you are not alone. This resource exists to support you in reaching your goals and navigating adulthood on your own terms.

Please see our full disclaimer on the home page, at the start of each module and at the start of each video.
