Finding a job: how your passions and strengths can help you find the right job for you

Everyone has things they are passionate about, and we all have our own strengths. Understanding what you enjoy and what you’re good at can help you find a job that suits you and that you’re more likely to enjoy and succeed in.

Your interests can help guide you toward work that is a good fit for you. For example, if you love plants, you might enjoy working as a florist, gardener, landscaper, nursery worker, or even at a botanical garden. One passion can open the door to many job options.

On the other hand, recognising what you don’t enjoy is just as useful.

If you’re unsure what your passions are, start by asking yourself:
What activities make you feel happy or fulfilled?
What did you love doing as a child?
What school subjects or hobbies do you enjoy?
Are you drawn to particular interests, like trains, cooking, or collecting things?

The Employment Module supports you to reflect on your strengths, interests, and preferences, and helps you identify the types of work that may be a good fit for you.
