How can you tell if someone has autism?

Autism is a neurological difference and does not have physical characteristics. The only indicators that a person is autistic other than through communicating that they are, is through behaviours, and interactions.

Everyone is different, but some common autistic strengths include: attention to detail, visual perception, creative and artistic talents, mathematical and technical abilities, interests or expertise in ‘niche’ areas, and character strengths such as honesty and loyalty.

Many autistics also use masking or camouflaging which are behaviours where an autistic person mimics the behaviours of non-autistic people for various reasons. This can make it harder to identify if a person is autistic or not.
